UAE Partners with Starlink to Connect 100 Remote Schools Globally
The United Arab Emirates has joined forces with Elon Musk's Starlink to provide high-speed satellite internet to 100 remote schools worldwide. Announced at the World Governments Summit, this initiative aims to bridge the digital divide in education, particularly in underserved African regions.
The program, part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation's Digital School project, leverages Starlink's low-Earth-orbit satellite network. It seeks to eliminate connectivity barriers that hinder access to modern educational tools, aligning with broader sustainability goals through learning infrastructure development.
Ryan Goodnight, Senior Director of Starlink Market Access at SpaceX, emphasized the project's focus on expanding digital access for students in isolated communities. The collaboration represents a significant step in global digital education strategies.
